Fact Sheet 1: Login & Website Wizard

Login to the system:

You will need to connect to the internet and go to http://admin.mysouthwest.com.au to login to the MySouthWest administration console.

If you do not have your login details, you can either click on the links on the MySouthWest login page or contact MySouthWest be email (mysouthwest@mysouthwest.com.au ) or call 9722 3888.

The login information is case sensitive and has to be entered precisely.

Type the name of your organisation (as listed on the email) into the organisation box.  Then press the TAB key to go to the username box and enter your username.  Another press of the TAB key will move you to the password box where you can enter the password given to you by MySouthWest.

Login Screen

Please make a note to change this password as soon as possible to one that only you know.  How to do that is covered in Fact Sheet 4.  Click on the login button, to be taken to the Terms and Conditions page.

Terms & Conditions:

On clicking the Website Tab for the first time, you can then click on the “Website Wizard” link. The next screen will present you with the standard legal Terms and Conditions statement, which you must agree to prior to proceeding.

Please read the conditions and then, to agree to it, click on ‘I Accept’.

Website Wizard Step 1:

The next page you will see is Step 1 of 5 of our Website Wizard.

Wizards are automatic programs and will guide you through the process of getting your website up and running.  By gathering information as you progress, the wizard is able to construct pages and colours for you.

The first thing to enter is the name you want to call your website (the Domain Name).

The name will be prefixed onto the rest of mysouthwest.com.au and so should be short enough to be remembered by potential visitors. As an example the Bunbury And Districts Amateur Community Theatrical & Operatic Revue Society used their initials, i.e. BADACTORS.  The full name would be much too long to use. You should also note that you do NOT have to add www to the chosen name and that spaces cannot be used in your address.  Having typed your chosen domain name click on continue and your website will be created on the Internet!

If you already have your own domain name ie www.badactors.com.au , you can have your MySouthWest website appear when people type in your website address. To do this, you will need to organise with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to point your domain name to the MySouthWest server. MySouthWest will also need to configure your website to recognise your domain name. Please contact MySouthWest for further information.

Website Wizard Step 2:

The second step is to choose a template layout for the site. There is a choice of four and you should choose the one you like the look of.  The first template will allow for more menu items down the side and has an area in the top left corner for any logo you may choose to use later.

Click into the small button next to the template of your choice and then click on continue.

Website Wizard Step 3:

The third step in the Wizard is to choose the colours for the site.  Do not panic, as any options chosen in the Wizard can be changed at a later date should you decide you have chosen the wrong colour scheme.

Again click in the button next to your choice and then click on continue.

Website Wizard Step 4:

Step 4 in the wizard asks you for the names of any pages that you would like created.

If you know you will require a page to list your members than you could put a Membership page.  However, there are default pages created for you and you can always add or delete pages once you get through the wizard process.  If you do not know what you will need, just accept the default and click on continue.

If you do want to create a page (or pages), just type the name in the box available and then click on continue.

Website Wizard Step 5:

Step 5 of the wizard summarises the choices you have made throughout the wizard process and also allows you to upload a logo.  This is a small picture file that you will have to have already on your own computer. All images on your website will need to be in either JPG of GIF format.

Click on the Browse button. This will open up a new window which you can use to browse around your computer until you find the correct file.  Click once on the name of the file and then click on Open at the bottom of the window. This action will actually shut the window but, you will see the name of your file is now in the proper box.

Click on continue.

Website Wizard Finished:

Once the website wizard has finished creating your website, it will display a message screen, as follows:

Until MySouthWest approve the site, it will be password protected.

This will have been explained on the initial e-mail you received. Groups may design their site straight away but before anyone can actually see it live on the internet, it has to be approved by MySouthWest.

This makes sense as you do not want any "Tom, Dick or Harriet" designing a website if they are not actually an authorised officer of the club or community group.  So, for the interim, to view your site on the Internet, you will have to enter the username and password provided by MySouthWest.

As soon as you have entered material onto your website and the approval process is complete the password protection will be lifted off by MySouthWest staff. For now, when you open a new browser window enter your username and password.  You will also notice on the welcome page a link which says Click here to begin editing your site.  The wizard has created your site, but it is now up to you and your group to make the site informative, interesting and engaging.

To begin the process, click on the link and refer to Fact Sheet 2.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE…

Automatic logout:

Automatic logout is a security feature pre-built into the My South West software system.   If after about 10 minutes of no input to the system, you will be logged out.  Please be aware that if you are in the editor and do not save your work regularly, the system may think that you have ceased activity.  It will not be able to register the keystrokes within the editor and when you come to save your work it will automatically log you out, cancelling all of your work.  Therefore, it is imperative to save your work within the editor at least once every ten minutes.
